Climbing With Kids

A climbing gym is not a playground. Climbing is an inherently dangerous and risk management is our main priority so please take the time to read this page before visiting the gym.

Youth Policy

RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED FOR NON-MEMBER YOUTH UNDER THE AGE OF 14.
  • ProBelay designed to welcome new climbers of any age into our facility; up to 4 climbers.
  • Staffed Group Event includes a staff instructor to ensure a fun and memorable climbing experience.
  • Youth Programs for children who show interest in learning more; check website for availability.
  • Climbing Camps offered during school breaks in Summer, Winter and Spring.
YOUTH POLICY
  • To help promote a safer environment for all climbers, walk-in/day pass access is not available for non-member children under the age of 14.
  • Groups of 5 or more youth (under 14) must be part of a staffed group event or youth program; groups of this size without a reservation may be turned away, members and punch pass holders included.
  • Non-member children under the age of 14 must be part of a staffed event (see above) or directly supervised by an adult member.
  • 1 adult member cannot supervise more than 3 youth at a time.
  • We are unable to accommodate custom group events or birthday celebrations; cake and balloons are not allowed inside the facility.
FAMILIARIZE YOURSELF WITH OUR GYM RULES.
  • Like adults, kids are expected to share the gym respectfully with other climbers; a climbing gym is not a playground - even though it really looks like one to them!
  • If you’re unsure, the desk staff will be happy to go over the gym rules with you and your child.
BE A HELICOPTER PARENT. (In a good way!)
  • Parents must be actively engaged in supervising their children and enforcing our rules at all times.
  • Keep young children within arm’s reach at all times. Not only for their safety but doing so also makes other climbers feel more comfortable knowing that you’re aware and involved.
SET A GOOD EXAMPLE.
  • Demonstrate safe and courteous behavior and kids will follow in your footsteps.
  • Be respectful of other climbers. If you bring an infant carrier/car seat, avoid setting it in potential fall zones and/or blocking access for other climbers.
GYM ETIQUETTE FOR PARENTS + KIDS:
  • Walk; running is never permitted.
  • Ropes are for climbing only; swinging, pulling or playing on ropes is strictly prohibited.
  • Avoid walking between climbers + belayers.
  • Do not touch anyone else’s gear and do not allow your children to do so.
  • Remove crying children from the climbing floor, and possibly the facility

Our staff may take additional precautions to manage the risk of all gym users. If behavior is a problem, climbers will be asked to leave the gym for the day.
