ROCK WARRIOR'S WAY CLINIC
It's time to up your mental game. Everyone's training their fitness, strength and technique, but it's time to look within and polish your mental ability. Improving your mental focus will make huge gains in your climbing. It's just as important as strength and technique. To help you master your mind, Arno Ilgner is coming to Edgeworks! Come hang out September 9th, during his clinic, and learn the Warrior's Way.
Arno's clinic addresses fear of falling and improving commitment. Everyone will learn how to improve breathing, create flow and momentum, commit more deliberately, trust your body and more. This hands-on course closes with you applying what you've learned on a challenging route.

Time: 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. OR 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Cost: $79.00 members / $89 non-members

We’re contributing to any and all couch-ditching. Couch 2 Climb is a weekly coaching program for new climbers who want to move quickly into climbing super stardom. Featuring instruction by experienced staff members, Couch 2 Climb gives everyone a chance to work through basic movements and skills. BELAY FIND |

If you're in the gym looking for a belay, we're thinking you should find one. The new poster and tags floating around the Front Desk will help.
Here's how it works: the orange tag means you're looking for a partner. So, clip one to your harness or chalk bag and keep your eyes pealed for other tags floating around. Once you've met another climber (also wearing a tag) rope up and climb on!
Also, don't forget to return the tags to the board once you've found a climbing partner. |

WILDERNESS FIRST AID + CPR |

Remember to sign up for the WMI Wilderness First Aid + CPR course, September 23-25. If the back country is your profession or passion, you need the skills to prepare for the unexpected.
The Wilderness Medical Institute has defined the standards in wilderness medicine. For years they've made sure outdoors enthusiasts don't face the unexpected. We're proud to offer the Wilderness First Aid + CPR course at Edgeworks.
Learn about assessment, vital signs, spinal cord injury, shock, wound management, fractures, dislocations, heat and cold injuries, altitude and much, much more. Get ready and register early - before the class fills up!

C'MON CRUSH THIS! |
|
|
Muscle fatigue is probably the principal burden of climbers, especially those newly introduced to the sport. Patrick McCabe suggests a simple way to reduce your fatigued affliction.
When you climb, your arms flutter between two different positions: bent and straight. "One common tendency is to climb with both arms bent." Patrick explains why that's problematic, "in this position both arms exert force and requires a lot of energy." When your arms are straight, the body hangs off your skeletal structure, not your muscles. This position requires significantly less energy.
The fix: alternate between using bent and straight arm positions. A simple practice is to place your hands on two different holds and using your legs, balance between the two holds and arm positions: bent, straight, bent, straight.
